This is an Illinois award for outstanding literature for young adults. The award is sponsored by the Illinois Reading Council, the Illinois School Library Media Association, and the Illinois Association of Teachers of English. Each year 20 books are nominated by students in grades 4-8. Students who participate in the book club are entitled to vote for the winner of the Rebecca Caudill Award for the year. For more information, visit the site at
http://www.rebeccacaudill.org/nominees/2008.htmThe purpose of the book club is to promote and encourage independent reading. The club provides an outlet for student discussion of the books where students are encouraged to VOICE THEIR OWN OPINION.
