National Junior Honor
Society
National Junior Honor Society is a service-oriented club open to eligible eighth graders. Students with a year-to-date GPA of at least 3.5 (or the equivalent in weighted honors grades) and no serious Dean contact by the end of third quarter of seventh grade qualify to seek membership.
Scholarship, however, is only one of five characteristics expected of NJHS members. Candidates must also demonstrate excellent leadership, character, citizenship, and service while at Brooks Middle School. Exemplary behavior is expected from all prospective members.
At the end of seventh grade, those students who have met the requirements are invited to seek membership. During their eighth grade year, candidates attend meetings and offer many hours of service to school, community, and/or place of worship.
At the end of eighth grade, those candidates who have practiced the five pillars of NJHS and have fulfilled at least thirty hours of service are formally inducted into the National Junior Honor Society in a ceremony held in early May.
