Prior to the visitation by Michelle
Y. Green, Mrs. Butta and Mrs. Taylor assist us with
preparing the library for the luncheon with the 6th
grade honors classes. |

Mrs. Green visited with our 6th grade honors
students during their special luncheon in the library. |

Brooks students follow along with
Michelle Y. Green's very touching and educational
presentation about meeting Mamie "Peanut" Johnson. |
|
 |
| After presenting to our 7th and 8th graders,
Michelle Y. Green spends some quality time with one of
our more active readers. Her warm and open style
was a big hit with our students. |

Why is number 5 on Michelle Y.
Green's jersey? If you were here for this very
special event, you would know. |

 |
|
Over 400 of our students read A
Strong Right Arm. Our school was filled with
students doing literature circles, read-alouds, silent
independent reading, research on the Negro Leagues and
women's rights. |

|
Michelle Y. Green talks with one of
our book club members about how she had to research how
to pitch to be able to write her book about a baseball
pitcher. |

Mrs. Willette, Mr. Holtz, and Mrs.
Michelle Y. Green visit with the Brooks Book Club.
Mrs. Willette and Mr. Holtz co-wrote a grant application
in April of 2005 that provided our school with our first
author's visit. This year, Mr. Holtz and Mrs. Willette's combined efforts have provided us with 2
different grants. |
