Building Operations
The Valley View School District consists of 25 schools/ facilities totaling approximately 2.5 million square feet. The grounds include 463 acres of grass to mow and 63 acres of asphalt to snow plow and maintain as well as 57 acres of buildings. An essential factor in the efficient operation of a school district is a well-organized, responsive building operations and maintenance department.
The operations generally include the day-to-day services necessary to maintain the buildings and grounds in a functional condition. In addition to the above mentioned operations, the department’s responsibilities include repairs, replacements, and renovations, as needed, to maintain the buildings’ heating and cooling, lighting, electrical, plumbing and equipment, and other building systems.
This past summer, the District completed extensive site renovations at Jane Addams Middle School. The improvements included adding a new dedicated bus drop off and staging area, resurfacing of parking lots, and new walkways for the school. These improvements were done in conjunction with the new Lindsey Lane Street extension adjacent to the school.
In addition to the new site circulation, the renovation included a new 400 meter outdoor track, with a soccer/practice field. Also, a new softball field was built with fencing, player benches, and spectator areas.
Valley View is proud to have first class facilities that support the learning environment throughout the district.
