The Food Service Department is always looking for staff members.  We have part time permanent jobs that range from 3 ¼ hours per day to 7 hours per day.  Most positions are 3 ¼ to 4 hours per day.  If you are looking for a position in your community that allows you to begin work after your child starts his or her school day and to return home before they return from school, this might be the perfect job for you.  Our staff are off the same school holidays as their children, and do not work during the winter, spring or summer breaks.

If you are interested in permanent part time employment with the department you must begin by substituting for the department.  Permanent part time assignments are filled by staff members already working for the department as substitutes.  Substitute employment does not guarantee a permanent part time position.

The entry level wage for FY 07 is $10.37/ hour as a substitute.  Once you are permanently placed the minimum wage will be $12.20/ hour.

Permanently assigned staff members participate in the Illinois Municipal Retirement System (IMRF) and receive sick and personal days, a uniform allowance and the ability to participate in a group life insurance plan. The Valley View School District does not have a health insurance program for part time staff members.
