Welcome to HHH Guidance Department

Middle school can be a difficult time for students. The ages
of 11 to 14 incur enormous developmental changes. The guidance department is
here to help any student who is struggling with academics and social or
emotional issues that relate to school.
In fact we encourage students to seek us out to help them resolve conflicts.
Conflicts can range from peer issues, heartbreak over a new crush, disagreement
with a teacher, eating disorders, bullying, and any and all issues that are
characteristic to middle school students. If we can help them find answers to
questions they have and assist in their problem solving skills, they will able
to return to class and focus appropriately on their academics.
We also often assist with social and personal issues that impede students' academic success.
Guidance Counselors are responsible for the following:
Leadership of PBIS Secondary Team

HOMEWORK WITHOUT THE HASSLE

We are beginning the second half of the year. Now, is an excellent time for parents to help their child continue to establish good homework habits.
Together with your child, choose a specific time and place for doing homework that is quiet.
Show interest in the homework. Know what is expected.
Utilize the Humphrey Homework Hotline and/or check the HHH Web Page to get a list of your child’s homework.
Organize the workspace with supplies close by – pencils, erasers, paper, dictionary, etc.
Don’t make your child sit for long stretches. Divide homework into 15 or 20 minute segments with 5 minute breaks
Consider letting your child earn video game or TV time by syncing it up with homework time. (For example, for every 15 minutes of homework, they can earn 15 minutes of fun time, etc.)
Give praise for good work and for steps in the right direction.
