MATH
Read, write, compare, and order numbers through six digits
Add/subtract four digits with/without regrouping
Solve two-step addition/subtraction word problems
Multiply/divide using 0-12 as factors
Multiply 2 and 3 digit numbers by 1 digit
Write and solve algebraic sentences and word problems
Measure capacity, weight, and length in customary and metric units
Make change using bills and coins up to $10
Tell time to the nearest minute
Determine perimeter and area of a figure
Create patterns given a set of directions
Identify ordered pairs on a coordinate grid
Identify polygons, solids, and plane figures
Build and decompose two and three dimensional objects
Organize data, make pictographs, bar graphs and analyze data
Explain probability as a part of the group to the whole group
LANGUAGE ARTS
Decode using phonics and word analysis strategies
Use synonyms, antonyms, prefixes, suffices, and root words to
define/identify words
Determine meaning of words in context and previous experience
Make predictions/connections from text to self/world
Identify main idea of a selection
Explain genres of fiction and non-fiction
Summarize or retell information from text
Read aloud with fluency and accuracy
Use graphic organizers to make connections
Differentiate between fact and opinion
Draw conclusions from information presented in tables, maps, charts
Identify elements of plot, character, setting
Describe events – setting, outcomes,
and authors message
Discover poetic devices
Construct complete sentences
Use appropriate grammar
Develop paragraphs with understanding of focus, organization,

SCIENCE/HEALTH
Understand properties of matter: solids, liquids, gases
Understand and describe motions
Describe the concepts of energy
Understand simple machines and how living things convert stored energy
to motion and heat
Understand the natural cycles and patterns in our solar system
Identify the planets (names, orders, sizes, composition)
Know characteristics of habitable planets
Analyze results by generating “?’s” and strategies using creative and
critical thinking skills
Identify and describe basic body systems and their functions –
circulatory, respiratory, digestive, muscular, skeletal, nervous
In health we are reinforcing life skills such as good nutrition and
prevention of injury
SOCIAL STUDIES
Understand representative government systems and the voting process at
the local level
Explain the meaning of democracy, individual rights, freedom, and
patriotism
Identify the difference between goods and services and producers and
consumers
Become aware of the concept of supply and demand
Identify goods/services provided by local government
Describe the difference between pioneers vs. present day
Study of colonies through American Revolution
Locate places on a world map – continents, oceans, countries, states,
cities
