Suggestions for practice at home:
Make two copies of the flashcards above and play memory or Go Fish
Put the sight word flashcards together into sentences
Choose a word for the day and see how many times you can find it in books
Sort the flashcards into “Words I Know” and “Words I Need to Practice”
Play “Find the word_____”
When playing games you have at home, take turns by reading a word
Hunt for words in books, magazines, newspapers, etc.
Trace words in salt on a plate or in a sandbox
Make words with play dough or cookie dough
Make rainbow words- write the word in one color, trace it with five other colors!
Write words in sentences on paper or in a home-made journal/notebook
Some Tips:
Work on just a few words at a time until your child masters them.
Look at our weekly calendar to see which words we are working on at school and reinforce those words and the words we have already learned.
