Dear Jonas Salk Families:

I wanted to take this opportunity to express how excited I am to be your new Assistant

Principal of Jonas Salk Elementary School. I feel so fortunate be a part of this wonderful and warm school environment. I am looking forward to working together with each of you this school year.

I would like to take this opportunity to share some information about my background so we can begin to get to know each other a little better. I served for 22 years of active duty naval service before I became a teacher. I attained my bachelor’s degree in Sociology from St. Leo University in Florida. Then I earned my first master’s degree in Education from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. From there, I began my professional career working at Irene H. King Elementary School in Romeoville where I taught fifth grade for six years. While teaching during the day, I earned a second master’s degree in Educational Administration in the evenings from Governors State University. I also had an interim

position as the Assistant to the Principal for two months and served on several building and district committees.

I have also served as a board member for the Plainfield Athletic Club providing leadership and guidance to our baseball and softball community which consisted of over 3000

families.

On a more personal note…I feel fortunate to have so much to celebrate! Not only am I

excited about being the Assistant Principal at Jonas Salk, I have also been married for 26 years and we are the parents to three children. Our oldest son Michael, is currently serving on active duty in the U.S. Army with one tour in Iraq complete. Our middle child Matthew, is a senior and plays varsity football. Our youngest child Melissa, is a freshman and plays on the girl’s volleyball and softball teams.

I am very eager to meet your family. I have already met several families and students and I am very proud to be part of the Jonas Salk family. Please feel free to call or stop by for a visit. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

See you soon!

Sincerely,

Theodore F. Warpinski
