Dear Parents and Guardians:

Spring has finally arrived and we are in the last quarter of the school year! It has been a very busy year, but there is still plenty of learning and excitement to come! The school-wide Science Showcase will be held on Thursday, April 24th, from 7-8 pm. This is the first year that every student will be

participating in the Science Showcase in some way. It is our hope that this experience will encourage your children to learn something new about a science topic that they find interesting and give them the experience of presenting their findings. Plan on attending; we guarantee that you will be entertained and educated! There will be a drawing for several science related prizes. Students must be present to win a prize. We would like to thank parents and our staff for their support of the Science Showcase.

We are also looking forward to the Barnes and Noble Book Fair and Art Fair that will be held all day on Thursday, May 22nd! Come see our Jonas Salk students’ wonderful artwork on display throughout the Bolingbrook Barnes and Noble located at the Promenade Mall. This would be a great time to

purchase some books for summer reading. A portion of the sales will be donated to the Jonas Salk

library fund.

We are very excited to announce two summer initiatives for our Salk students. They are in the initial planning stages and you will receive more information in May. First, we plan on having the Salk

library open one morning a week during the summer for our students who will be returning to Salk in August as first through fifth graders. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to have access to their favorite books all summer. Also, we are thrilled to be offering Crusader Camp, a summer enrichment camp designed to stimulate your child’s brain cells while they have fun doing it. Staff members will design the camp. We will have two, one-week camps in June. The program will typically run two hours a day for one week. There will be a tuition charge to cover staff salary and supplies. Registration will be in May.

Continue to encourage your child to work hard in school and exhibit their best behavior. If you have any questions or concerns, please call us or stop by.

Sincerely,

Michele Romolt, Principal Theodore Warpinski, Asst. Principal
