Below is an explanation of my classroom discipline and management plan. My approach to discipline and management creates clear expectations for behavior in which the students fully understand the consequences. The policies strive to develop self-discipline and responsibility. I expect respectful behavior and choices and therefore each child will be given opportunities to earn money in anticipation that they will make these choices.

This year TEAM FURLAN will be using a money system, called "Classroom Economy" in our classroom that incorporates math in a fun and educational way. By earning and losing money, they will learn real life consequences and the benefits of earning and spending money. Your child will be given an "All Star Earnings" book where they will be required to keep track of their daily credits and debits. At the end of each school week, your child will take home

Through the writing of checks, I expect each student to:

* spell number words correctly

* gain practice in adding and subtracting

* demonstrate proper use of a calculator

* write a check correctly -and keep the checkbook balanced correctly (life skill)

* determine between needs and wants when making purchases

Students will have several opportunities to earn money during the school day and school week. Each day, students can earn money towards their savings based on their classroom behavior. In TEAM FURLAN, we will be using a THREE STRIKES method:

 -the student is doing what is expected of them. This student will earn $5 per day that he/she ends on At the Plate.

 - This is their first friendly reminder. If a student moves to Strike 1, he/she can earn $3 per day that he or she ends the day on Strike 1.

If the student continues to be disruptive and not follow our school and classroom expectations, he or she will move to Strike 2.

 - This is their second friendly reminder. If a student is on Strike 2, he/she can earn $1 per day that he or she ends on Strike 2.

If the student continues to be disruptive and not follow our school and classroom expectations, he/she will move to Strike 3.

 - This is their last reminder. If a student is on Strike 3 at the end of the day, he/she will pay me $5 for his/her disruptive behavior. The student will also bring a note home explaining his/her classroom behavior.

Payroll/Credits: will be given on the first day of the week and kept track of in each student's All-Star Earnings Book.
