Welcome To John R. Tibbott School...........where children come first!
Spring is in the air and activities are in bloom at Tibbott School! We have been busy planning a variety of programs for the students and our community. We welcome everyone to join us on the 18th of April from 6-9 p.m. for our annual Multicultural Fair. This year we have expanded the program to create a travel program for our students. Each class has adopted a country to study. The students are creating presentations to display outside of their classrooms. On the 17th and 18th every student will travel through the building with a passport visiting and exploring each of the displays. Their passports will be stamped as they learn facts about the countries visited. Our culmination will be on the 18th at the Fair. We will be entertained by a variety of groups such as Joe Gutierrez and his Mariachis, Polanie Dancers, Murphy School of Irish Music, Thistle and Heather Highland Dancers, Bolivia Manta, our students and staff performers, and David Stocker and One Drum along with the Nahui Olin Aztec Dancers. Come join us for this free event partially funded through generous grants and donations from the Valley View Educational Enrichment Foundation, the Illinois Arts Council, and area businesses.
In addition to the Fair our students will also be participating in an Artist in Residency program from April 16th through May 23rd. Ms. Nancy Vachon will be teaching our students the art of book making and creating books as pieces of visual art. On the 23rd of May all of our creations will be displayed at the Bolingbrook Fountaindale Public Library. As a part of the residency our students will also work with Nancy VanKenagan who will create Mayan art with the students in their workshops and Oba William King who will lead the students in storytelling workshops.
We look forward to being a part of these wonderful events! Thank you to all of our parents and community members who help bring the arts to Tibbott. We appreciate your support.
See you soon!
