I have been a social worker with Valley View since August 1987. I have worked in both high schools, two middle schools, and seven elementary schools. It has been quite an experience! This year I am splitting my time between Tibbott (Tuesday, Thursday & Friday) and Hermansen (Monday & Wednesday).

 

At Tibbott I am on the PBIS, Social/Emotional Learning, and Problem Solving committees. Also at Tibbott, I will again to presenting Paddy Pillow to some of the second grade classes. The other social worker will be going into the rest of the second grade classrooms. Paddy Pillow is a program to teach children words to express their feelings instead of acting them out. It has been very successful in the past and I hope that it will be again this year.

 

I have an open door policy for both students and teachers who would like help with a student. Although my primary duties at both schools are the special education children I am scheduled to see, I make time for all the students in the schools if they have any problems. Working with staff and parents is an effective means to help our students, too.
