Mrs.
Colburn's Class
Math: We are
working on addition and subtraction to 10. Get flash cards and help your
child to learn these facts from memory.
Reading: We
just reviewed all the letters of the alphabet. Now we are working on short
vowels, beginning with the letter a. (a as in apple) We also go to Tiger
Tales (the reading room) daily from 9:20-9:50. There we have 4 trained
teacher working in small groups with children according to their ability.
Writing: We
are writing sentences using words from our word wall and also by sounding
out words that we do not know.
Social
Studies: We are finishing up a unit on School and will begin our unit about
Families. We are going to Naper Settlement on September 28 to see things
from the past.
We have several
parent helpers who are working with the children on reading words. A BIG
thanks to them!!
The best way to
contact me is through a phone call to school before school starts or to send
a note with your child. These ways ensure that I will take care of any
problems or concerns immediately.
