Mrs. Negrón

Our class mission:

Reading:  Your child should be reading at least 15 minutes every day.  Your child may read to you or to a sibling or any other family member.  Some one may read to him/her or you may take advantage of the many books on tape.  Your child may read any book in any language, as long as they comprehend what they’re reading.

Math:  Math homework is given every night (except on test days) to practice and review skills taught in class.  It would be a good idea to buy your child addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division flashcards in order to reinforce these basic facts.

Spelling and Vocabulary:  Every week your child will have a new list of spelling and vocabulary words.  It would be a great idea to practice these words every day.  Your child will be tested on these words at the end of every week.

Friday Folders:  These folders will go home every Friday with all of your child’s completed work for the week.  Please look over all of your child’s work and discuss it with your child.  Please sign by the corresponding date and return to school every Monday.

Homework Policy:  Your child will have homework ALMOST every day.  Each student has a homework and behavior log that they fill out at the end of each day.  This is so you may always be aware of how you child is doing at school, so PLEASE check their logs EVERY night!
* If work is not turned in, I will send home the assignment again with a letter for you to sign and return.  10% of the credit will be deducted for each day the assignment is late.  If the assignment is not turned in after five days they will receive a zero for the assignment.

What Can You Expect From Me?
Students will find that I have high expectations for them both behaviorally and academically. I will ask them to work hard and I will exceed their work level. I strive to treat every student fairly and respectfully, keeping in mind the individual needs of students. I will work hard to include the community and the families of this team of students as much as possible, and I am open to ideas about what others can bring into the classroom to enhance learning. If you feel your child needs something that he/she is not getting....or if you are a student and feel that you need more assistance in some particular area, don't hesitate to contact me. I will do everything in my power to help each child reach proficiency in the areas of reading and writing.

If you have any questions or comments I may be contacted by phone at least 30 minutes before and after school each day by calling (630) 739-7155 or by email at negronc@vvsd.org
