A-Team brings smiles to Wood View readers

July 27 was a day to remember for the several dozen students who participated in the Wood View Elementary School Summer Reading Program
the past eight weeks.
Not only did they celebrate the final day of a great program that helped them sharpen their reading skills, but they also received free books and stuffed animals from special reading partners from the Kohl’s store in Bolingbrook.
The visit from the reading partners, several of whom live in Bolingbrook, was part of the Kohl’s Cares Ambassadors in Action program.
“It’s very exciting to be able to do this,” said Wendy Dawson, Area Supervisor for Kohl’s, who says her A-Team is “willing to do anything that benefits kids.”
“We’re very pleased that she chose Wood View to do this,” said Judy Fox, a volunteer who runs the Fox In The Box reading program at the school.
Fox helped secure the Kohl’s A-Team which may visit Wood View three more times during the school year. And each time they visit, not only does the school receive much-needed volunteer help, it also receives a $500 grant from Kohl’s.
In addition to Dawson who is from Naperville, A-Team volunteers included Bolingbrook residents Judy Taylor and her daughter, Tyra, who is a student at Independence Elementary School, Elaine Rezny and Angela McGuffey, as well as Amber Lopinski of McCook.
