STRATEGIC GOALS

2007-2009

 

School Climate/Physical development & Health

 

To continuously promote a "safe", healthy learning environment and to foster unity, mutual respect, teamwork, and togetherness within Oak View School through the implementation of Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports as the school-wide behavior model by expanding and supporting the school climate that will adequately decrease the number of discipline referrals by 10%. An approval rating by students, parents and staff of at least 5% on survey items related to providing a safe and orderly school environment will be noted based on the results of the Harris Interactive Survey. We will focus on increasing parental involvement that will provide improved student performance and promote greater citizenship through our implementation of the Joyce Epstein Model.

 

Math Performance (State Goal: 6,7,8,9,10)

Students will demonstrate increased academic achievement in mathematics as measured by local and state assessments.  A five percent (5%) increase in the number of students who meet or exceed proficiency standards across grades K-5 on the local assessments will be achieved.  An increase in the number of students who meet or exceed proficiency standards across grades 3, 4, and 5 on ISAT tests will be achieved at 62.5% by the end of 2008 and at 70% by the end of 2009 at Oak View School.  By the end of the 2013 school year all students will be proficient in the area of math.

 

Reading Performance (State Goal:  Read with Understanding and Fluency)

Students will demonstrate increased academic achievement in reading as measured by local and state assessments.  A five percent (5%) increase in the number of students who meet or exceed proficiency standards on the local assessments across grades 1-5 will be achieved. An increase in the number of students who meet or exceed proficiency standards across grades 3, 4, and 5 on ISAT tests will be achieved at 62.5% by the end of 2008 and at 70% by the end of 2009 at Oak View School.  By the end of the 2013 school year all students will be proficient in the area of reading.

 

Writing Performance

Students across grades 3, 4, and 5 will demonstrate increased academic achievement in writing as measured by local assessments and the implementation of the Six Traits Writing Program. An increase in the number of students who meet or exceed proficiency standards on these assessments will be achieved by the end of the 2007-2009school year at Oak View School.  By the end of the 2013 school year all students will be proficient in the area of writing.
