Courses: Intro to Biology, Geometry Essentials, Freshman Lab Science, Modern World History, Applied Math, and PEACE.
Intro to Biology:
Students in this class will learn the fundamentals of all living matter, with an emphasis on plants and animals. Our learning will include in class discussions, labs, homework and current events (new medicines, advances and technology).
Geometry Essentials:
Students in this class will learn how to take measurements of objects found around the world. They will learn how to find heights, bases, depths, volumes, areas, etc. of many different shapes including, but not limited to Squares, Cubes, Triangles, Prisms, Circles and many more.
Freshman Lab Science:
Students in this class will
gain an understanding of the fundamental principals of biology, physics,
chemistry and earth/space sciences thought the use of lab investigations,
technology and the application of problem-solving/critical thinking skills. Students will learn how to; work together to
collect, organize and analyze data; draw conclusions; prepare lab reports; and
present their findings to the class.
Relationships among science, technology and society will be explored
though out the course.
Modern World History:
Students in this class are
expected to learn the following:
Conquest of nations by Western Nations and its consequences, the violent
and social forces of the two world wars, the political, social, and economic
changes after World War Two, and the shift toward democracy in the 80’s and
90’s.
Applied Math:
In Applied Math students will learn fundamental skills that are used in a wide variety of jobs and by people from all different walks of life including draftsmen, carpenters, wood workers, salesmen, marketers, mechanics, and many others use the material that will be covered in every day life. The material covered will include, but not be limited to, word problems, graphing, geometry, and algebra.
PEACE:
Students will learn and
practice life and social skills that relate to real life situations and
experiences.
All students are required to maintain a Portfolio. Within the Portfolio the students are expected to keep examples of the following:
The purpose of the Portfolios is for student reflection and display of what they have learned and accomplished.

B = 91 % - 83 %
C = 82 % - 74 %
D = 73 % - 65 %
F = 64 % - 0 %
Homework Policy:
All Homework is to be turned in on the day it is due, typically the day after it is assigned.
Late Assignment Policy:
NO assignments will be accepted late. ALL assignments MUST be turned in by the assigned due date.
Absent Students:
Absent students will be given
an amount of time equal to, but not exceed, the amount of days they were
absent.

Technology:
Technology will be used to enhance the learning environment by researching information, watching related videos and typing up reports.
