Courses: English 9 Standard/Essential: English 9 is a two-semester class in which the students
learn, practice, and demonstrate various skills involved with reading, writing,
and speaking. This class seeks to
promote an atmosphere in which students become proficient with all modes of
communication. PEACE: Students
will practice life and social skills that relate to real life situations. Impact PE: A
written course to teach students how to be fit for life.
This course will focus on physical activity, wellness, strength, personal
planning and more. An elective or Physical Education credit course is offered to
High School students. Adult Living: This
course will emphasize the development of the adolescent through maturity and
relationships with others. The
student will explore aspects of life to include personality development,
communications, relationships, with family and friends, mate selection,
marriage, divorce, money management, aging and death. Practical information is given to help the student deal with
real-life situations. Literature Exploration:
This course will provide more in depth support for students whose
reading skills may limit their success in high school.
Focus will be on development of personal reading strategies to improve
comprehension and vocabulary skills. Reading
materials will include novels, nonfiction text, newspapers, magazines, and
electronic media.
