8TH Grade Math, Pre-Algebra, Intro to Algebra, Algebra Part 1, Algebra Part 2, and PEACE

8th Grade Math:                  Students will study mathematical ideas that connect to real world applications.  The course                                                            will cover numbers, measurement, statistics, algebra, geometry, probability, and discrete math.

Pre-Algebra:                          This course provides students with the skills necessary for the study of algebra.  Topics include     variables and expressions, integers, rational number operations, equations, and problem solving.

Intro to Algebra:                    This course follows Pre-Algebra and introduces students to the fundamental principles of algebra.  Algebraic symbolism, simplifying expressions, solutions to elementary equations, and the graphic representation associated with variables are introduced.

Algebra Part 1:                      This course is the first part of a two-year algebra course.  Topics consist of operations with positive and negative numbers, the structure of the real number system, equation solving, graphing, and simplification and operations of polynomials.

Algebra Part 2:                       This course follows Algebra Part 1 and is the second part of a two-year algebra course.  Topics include equations and inequalities, functions, radicals, graphing, systems of equations and quadratic equations.

PEACE:                                  Students will practice life and social skills that relate to real life situations and experiences.

All students will be required to keep and maintain a math notebook & folder.

Items to be kept in math notebook.
