FIFTH GRADE VOCABULARY

MATH VOCABULARY

Triangle- A polygon with three sides

Polygon – closed plane figure formed by three or more line segments

Congruent – having the same size and shape

Similar – having the same shape but not necessarily the same size

Mixed number – number that is made up of a whole number and a fraction

Denominator – the number below the bar in a fraction that tells the whole part

Numerator – the number above the bar in a fractions that tells the part of the whole

READING VOCABULARY

Atmosphere – the air around the earth

Contact – point of touching, connection

Property – something owned or possessed

Available – accessible, obtainable

Surge – large wave

Destruction – ruin, devastation

Hurricanes – tropical storms

Damages – losses from harm t0 property or people
