ABC ORDER: Write your words in alphabetical order.

Reversed ABC order: Write your words in ABC order backwards.

Rainbow Words: Write each word 3 times, but each time using a different color. Example, if the word is dog, = dog dog dog

Pyramid Words: Write your words adding one letter at a time, forming a pyramid. Example "bird" b

Picture words: Draw a picture and write your words in the picture or illustrate each word.

Silly Sentences: Use all your words in 10 sentences. Underline each of the spelling words.

Counting by 5's: Write each word five times.

Ransom words: Write your words by cutting out letters from magazines or newspapers and glue them in your journal.

Colorful Vowels: Write each of your spelling words. Then trace over the vowels (a,e,i,o,u) with a colored pencil or marker.

Squiggly Words: You write your spelling words 2 times. First write them in regular letters, then write the words again using squiggly letters.

Bubble letters: Write your words using bubble letters. After you write your words in bubble letters, color them in. Example: happy=happy

"Adding Up" my words: Each letter has a value. Consonants are worth 1 point, vowels are worth 2 points. Write each word, then add up it’s value!

Example: happy= h a p p y

1 + 2 + 1 + 1 + 1= 6 points!

Computer Fun: Use your computer to type your words. Use different fonts and make it look really fun. Print it out and glue it in your spelling spiral.

Telephone Words: Translate your words into numbers from a telephone keypad.

Friendly Words: Write two words that share a letter so they are touching.

Story words: Write a short story using all your spelling words in it.

Secret Agent Words: Number the alphabet from 1-26; then convert your words to a number code! Example: happy= 8*1* 16*16* 25

iPopsicles: Make your words using popsicle sticks.

iSound Words: Use a tape recorder and record yourself spelling the words.

iPasta Words: Write your words by arranging alphabet pasta or Alphabits cereal.

i3D words: Use modeling clay rolled thinly to form your words.

iTake a practice test at home. Write any word you missed 3 times.

iWrite your spelling words on cards-make 2 sets. Play memory match.

iWrite your spelling words scrambled up. Then ask a parent or sibling to unscramble them in your spiral. Correct their work.

Don’t forget to have a parent write a note in your spiral if you use a i activity!!
