RHS Guidance Department
Schedule Change Policy
In an effort to improve the organization and efficiency of the Guidance Office, as well as balance the needs of both students and staff, the following policy regarding schedule changes has been developed. Please read these guidelines carefully BEFORE approaching your counselor and asking that your schedule be changed.
Schedule changes CAN be made in one of the following circumstances:
* Your schedule is completely missing a class period.
* Your schedule shows a study hall where there should be a
class.
* Your schedule is missing a class that you are sure you
requested.
* You have been scheduled for a class that you did not
request.
* You have been scheduled for a class that you have already
passed.
* You have been scheduled to re-take a class that you have
already failed with the same teacher.
* You have a documented medical excuse valid for a class for
which you have been scheduled.
* You have been scheduled for the wrong level of class (i.e.
Essentials instead of Honors) Schedule changes for this reason MUST be
accompanied by a “Request for Placement Change” form signed by both your parent
and the appropriate department chair.
Schedule changes CANNOT be made for the following reasons:
* You have changed your mind regarding the elective class(es)
you have chosen.
*
You would like to switch your lunch and homeroom.
* You would like to change the order of your classes.
* You would like to change the teachers you’ve been assigned.
* You would like to switch to different classes from those
that you selected with your counselor the previous spring.
You may see your counselor to request different electives for the following school year anytime during the spring semester. NO CHANGE IN COURSE REQUESTS WILL BE PROCESSED AFTER THE LAST SCHOOL DAY IN MAY.
Requests outside of this policy will be addressed by the Guidance Council.
