Valley View Summer Volunteer Program

If you have an hour or more a day or week volunteer helping students at your local high or middle schools. Adult volunteers are needed to assist with: traffic control, hall monitoring, mentoring, tutoring, chaperoning school dances/events and other school duties as needed. Volunteers once approved through background checks, fingerprinting and TB vaccination will receive training and building orientation. Select a school of your choice or go where the need is greatest.   • Community members to read to pre-schoolers

Tibbott Elementary School

  • Spanish language tutors to work with kindergarteners on letter/sound recognition.
  • College grads to speak with classes about their college experience and current career.
  • Government officials to speak to classes on how our government works
  • Library volunteers to shelve books.
  • Adults to paint a USA map on our blacktop. (Stencil provided)

B.J. Ward Elementary School

  • Adult "Patrols" for the Annerino Trail before and after school. Many of the students walk to school via this route.
  • Blacktop and Playground presence
  • Classroom helpers to do many little jobs that need to be done in elementary classrooms including cutting out bulletin board materials, stapling papers, passing out flyers and graded papers, sharpening pencils, etc.
  • Mentors for students who may need extra guidance in their day-to-day lives.
  • Club leaders that could start new clubs like a Saturday morning book club or a Tuesday after-school chess club or community members willing to provide clubs with materials, such as chess boards.
  • Transporting parents with transportation issues to night time events at school.
