The first graders have been having fun thinking about apples and discovering how answers to number questions can be shown in different ways. Using one of our newest, cool "technology" tools, the "Smartboard" along with "The Graph Club" software, our class has been discovering the fun world of graphing.
Asking the questions, "What Color Apples Do We Like the Most" and "How Many Children Like This Color Apple?" (notice all of the great word wall words we used!), the first graders first used a "pictograph" to present their favorite apple choices. The first graders learned that pictures are one way in which we can show "how many"!
Next, the first graders wanted to see if they would get the same "apple choice" results making a bar graph. They learned that number relationships are the same, whether it is displayed in a pictograph or bar graph.
Below, are pictures of our graphing fun using the "Smartboard" and our graphs!
ENJOY!
