Tuesday, September 11, 2001 was indeed a sad day in America for all of us; even the children. The day after this horrific event, and during candid discussion amongst Mrs. Anding’s First Graders, it became evident that all of these children had viewed very specific details of the horror of the prior day. As part of (we hope) a healing process, Mrs. Anding provided her first graders the opportunity to express their feelings on paper.
On one side of the paper, the first graders expressed their depiction of what occurred. The other half of the paper is dedicated to how they feel to be Americans. Each child decided to add a "get well" message to send to ALL Americans. The children have sent them to the President of the United States for him to share with all of America!
As you will see, these children, as well as all of the children in our great nation, are very aware and sensitive to the needs of us all. Although they have seen the worst, they want to show what is BEST about living in America and want everyone to feel better! We can be very pleased and proud of these young Americans: Our future is in good hands!
