This lesson for first graders was entitled "Color Magic". The objective of this lesson was for the first graders to experiment with color mixing using transparent media (colored tissue paper). Students were given an opportunity to use their knowledge about mixing colors to predict what the result would be when layering dfferent color combinations of tissue paper. The artist portion of this lesson focused on American Artist, Georgia O'Keefe; one of the most famous women artists in history. Ms. O'Keefe is best known for her paintings of flowers. This lesson also included a mini-cience lesson on plant parts.
The culmination of the lesson was the first graders creating flowers using colored tissue paper and decoupage.
