Last Christmas
it came to our attention that one of our regular "guest teachers" has a son in
the Army who was stationed in Iraq. Mrs. Bowman has been asking
classes to make cards and decorate "treat" bags to send to her son and his 185-person company.
Mrs. Bowman purchased all of the supplies for classrooms to
make cards and decorate "treat" bags. She filled these bags with
candy and treats: (130 pounds worth), which was donated by her other employer,
Kohl's: Her
family had been eating on table trays because there were treat bags everywhere! She
sent these completed cards and bags to her son's company via U.S.
Postal Service, which cost her about $160.00.
The following classes participated in making cards and decorating treat bags to let the American heroes of the U.S. military know we appreciate their sacrifice to keep us free.
Mrs. Anding, Mrs. Boyer, Mrs. Champ, Ms. Hetzer, Mrs. McCormick, Mrs. Sutterlin, Mrs. Tomaszewski
Mrs. Anding's first grade also collected and donated $54.00 to help Mrs. Bowman pay the postage for her heartfelt undertaking.
With efforts such as these made by our children, America's future is in good hands!
Below, please find a picture of SPC Bowman. We have also included some of the cards sent to his company. To view the cards created by some of our students, click on SPC Bowman's picture. The theme was "Dear Soldier".
