As part of our discussions on understanding "word to print" concepts, our first classroom book was a demonstration of what the "spoken" word looks like on paper. The first graders dictated sentences talking about their pets. Mrs. Anding typed the words up onto the projector screen for all to show what spoken words look like on paper; thus, the written word. Mrs. Anding transferred each student's sentences onto 12X18 paper and each first grader drew pictures to match his/her spoken words. Here is our first classroom book for you to enjoy.
