The following writings are a result of the above writing prompt given to our first graders. The parameters of the prompt were for each first grader to write about something he/she did "over the weekend" in a complete thoughts using 5-Star Writing and include what they know about "telling sentences":
Each sentence must begin with a capital letter
Each sentence must make sense
Each sentence must end with punctuation
As you will see, the first graders did an excellent job of expressing themselves appropriately in writing and don't forget to check-out their GREAT illustrations!
