Ms. Rebecca Furlan

Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Rebecca Furlan

Welcome to TEAM FURLAN! My name is Rebecca Furlan and I am a 4th grade teacher at Bernard J. Ward Elementary. This is my 15th year teaching in Valley View School District. Besides teaching 4th grade for 12 years, I have also taught 3rd grade and 2nd grade challenge. An interesting fact is I grew up in Bolingbrook and attended Jamie McGee Elementary School, Jane Adams Middle School, and Romeoville High School. After High School, I spent the next 4 years in Charleston, IL where I received my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education in 2002 from Eastern Illinois University and in 2007 I earned my Master's Degree from Saint Xavier University.

My philosophy of education is for my students to learn in an environment that is safe, cooperative, respected, and challenging in order to grow socially and academically. My strongest belief as a teacher is that if a child does not feel safe and respected, he/she will not be able to take full advantage of their learning experience. My job as an educator is to provide such an environment and hope that in the time they are in my classroom, I am able to show him or her that they are valuable, special, and capable of anything they set their mind to.

As an important part of TEAM FURLAN, if you have any questions or concerns as the year progresses, please feel free to contact me. You can call the school at (630) 972-9200 and leave a message with the office or you can reach me via email at I sincerely look forward to getting to know your child and making their 4th grade year one to remember!
