B.S. Applied Behavioral Science M.A. Teaching

Mrs. Kelly Morten

Hello, my name is Mrs. Morten. This is my eighth year teaching fourth grade at Wood View! It feels like I just began teaching yesterday! I live in Lisle with my husband, Mr. Morten and our dogs, Boots and T-Bone. Our four children are Brianna, Taylor, Allison and Quinn. Brianna graduated from Southern Illinois University, Taylor graduated from Arkansas Tech University, Allison attends College of DuPage and Quinn is working full time. I stayed at home to raise our children until I decided to return to school to pursue a degree in teaching. When our youngest son, Quinn, was three I returned back to school to continue my college education. I started at the College of DuPage and continued onto National Louis University to receive my Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Behavioral Science and my Master’s Degree in Teaching. Returning to school as an adult allowed me to develop a passion for learning. It is my hope to pass this passion onto the students of my classroom. In my free time, I enjoy cycling, traveling, watching movies, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

Some of my Hopes and Dreams for our classroom community this year are that everyone develops a positive mindset, perseveres through the challenges they will face, views mistakes as an avenue of self-discovery and we develop as a community of purposeful learners.  We are looking forward to helping your child discover their full potential, both academically and as a valued member of our community. We believe in open communication with our families and students, so please feel free to contact us any time with any celebrations or concerns you or your child may have. This year we will be using an app called "Remind". We are hoping it will allow you to stay connected to all the important events going on in our classroom and allow you an easy and convenient way to communicate with Mr. Scott and me. We are looking forward to an academically challenging and rewarding year with your child!
