Mrs. Laure Bruns
Hi Families. My name is Laure Bruns and I am the Raccoon Room teacher. I am very excited that we will be taking this educational adventure together. I come to the Raccoon room with a wide variety of teaching experiences both in the private and public setting. I have been an educator for the past 14 years. This is my fifth year with the Dr. James Mitchem Early Childhood Center. Educationally, I have a bachelor's degree in Psychology and master's degrees in both elementary education and early childhood special education. Through all of my experiences, I have learned that preschool children are my favorite age group to work with. I believe in the power of play based learning. As a teacher, I love to incorporate the studens' own interests and curiosities into our curriculum studies. Their curiosity and observations power our learning. That being said, I also encourage all of you to participate with us this year. As a teacher, I am truly your partner.
In my free time, I enjoy watching my own childrens' activities. My daughter, Kerrigan, is in her first year of college at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia where she is studying premedical sciences and plays volleyball for their college team. My son, Joseph (14), is a freshman in high school where he plays hockey for his school team. I also enjoy cooking, spending time outside, and playing with our two dogs. In the summer months, I enjoy traveling to my home town of San Francisco, California and visiting family.
I look forward to getting to know you all better this year and am thankful to be your partner in learning. I hope to see each of you soon!!
