As we prepare for the 2022-23 school year, we are entering an exciting gateway to the future with the opportunity to evolve together as a school community. This past year, we invested significant time to develop a shared vision through the Portrait of a Learner engagement effort and the development of a new strategic plan to begin to chart our course into the next several years.

The Portrait of a Learner design process was driven by voice from representatives of all of our stakeholder groups, along with information about what is most critical in the ever-changing and complex world. The VVSD Portrait of Learner identifies core competencies that our community believes are most important for our learners.  These core competencies (listed to the right), along with strong academic and social emotional skills, are core drivers of shaping the PK-12 school experience and each child’s path growing, developing, and achieving. 

The new Strategic Plan will guide us to bring the vision to life, build upon the strong foundation and many strengths that we have, and evolve the full school experience. Our ultimate goal is to equitably ensure opportunities and outcomes for every learner, from the time they begin their educational journey with us, until they move forward with their post-secondary plan and goals. 

You may also have noticed that the VVSD logo and branding  are also evolving. This evolution represents dynamic growth and movement,  while still maintaining our core values, strong foundation, and the special heart of Valley View. 

With change, we will also find challenges; however, we are Valley View and we have shown that as a school community, we can come together and do whatever it takes to support our kids to find great success, in their growth and development and their many accomplishments.
