Your student should be present each day to participate in our Zoom meetings. We will follow a schedule of alternating lesson days and homework days. On lesson days, your student will be expected to complete a warm-up and an EdPuzzle. These activities are scored on a Pass/Incomplete basis, as they are discovery based and not expected to be completed without flaws, only with effort.
On homework days, your student will be expected to complete the homework problems with a team of peers and a cool-down. These assignments will be graded on the scale described below.
Excelling (100%) - Select problems are correct; packet is complete.
Proficient (85%) - Select problems are mostly correct; packet is complete.
Approaching (73%) - Select problems are incorrect; packet is more than 50% complete.
Beginning (59%) - Packet is less than 50% completed.
Khan Academy practice and Quizizzes will be assigned as well. These assignments earn the grade that the computer assigns.
Students will be accessed via Quick Progress Checks (or QPCs) throughout the year. 90% of the students' grades will be a result of these QPCs. Students will not be allowed to retake these checks.
As students at Brooks Middle School, we work continuously on learning from our mistakes and persevering through them. "I will persevere until I am proud." Assignments turned in on time can corrected and turned back in at any time during the current chapter for full credit.
Assignments turned in late will earn a maximum of a Proficient rating. Late assignments cannot be corrected.
