Valley View School District is committed to empowering EVERY learner to be college, career and life ready, and we depend on dedicated and talented substitute employees and teachers to help us achieve this goal.
Guest Teachers & Guest Teacher Aides
Applications are reviewed year-round as needed. If you are selected, we will contact you to schedule an appointment for processing. New Substitute ‘Guest’ Teachers are required to attend a half-day paid training hosted by Valley View School District.
Guest Teachers must hold one of the following: a valid Substitute Teaching License, an Educator License with Stipulations for Paraprofessional [ELS (PARA)] License along with a bachelor’s degree, a Professional Educator License (PEL), or a *Short-term Teacher Substitute License (STS), registered with Will County Region 56. Substitute ‘Guest’ Teachers can also serve as a Substitute ‘Guest’ Teacher Aide with the above licenses.
Guest Teacher Aides must, at a minimum, hold one of the following: a valid Short-term Approval (STA) Paraprofessional License, or an Educator License with Stipulations for Paraprofessional [ELS (PARA)] License.
Illinois legislation permits individuals with an associate’s degree or at least 60 hours of college credit to apply for a Short-term Teacher Substitute (STS) License. The DuPage Regional Office of Education offers the required training program, which must be completed before employment begins. Upon completion, participants will receive a signed completion form to present to the school districts. The training covers topics such as curriculum, classroom management techniques, school safety, and more.
Guest Nurses
New Guest Nurses will receive mentoring from one or more building nurses prior to work. Guest Nurses must hold a valid State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse's License and CPR & AED Certification.
