Wi-Fi Network Access

If you are using the OpenVVSDWiFi network, all users need to install a new certificate. Click on the Wi-Fi Certificate image to download the file and install.

The following instructions should be completed on personal devices only.

DISCLAIMER: Some users have noticed that their personal devices give them a warning message alerting them to the fact that installing this certificate allows your internet activity to be monitored. The web filtering technology used in the District to block inappropriate content checks the web site prior to allowing it to be viewed to ensure that no inappropriate content is accessed while using the district’s network. However, no district staff member is monitoring this activity.

As with any publicly available Wi-Fi, the district’s public Wi-Fi “OpenVVSDWiFi” is available for use “As Is’ without warranties of security, privacy and confidentiality.

*The certificate will only work on Android devices if Screen Lock is enabled. This means that a pin, password or pattern must be entered in order to access the phone. If you do not wish to have Screen Lock enabled, the certificate will not install and you will not be able to access secure sites using the district Wireless Network. This means that some common websites which use https such as Google, Yahoo, Bing and Facebook will have limited functionality if accessed by a device that does not have a certificate. If Screen Lock is currently not enabled on your phone and you wish to enable it, there will be instructions at the end on how to enable it.*
