Dear B. J. Ward Students and Families,
It is with great honor and excitement that I introduce myself, Kathy Nigro, as Principal of B. J. Ward Elementary School. I am very passionate about education and look forward to bringing my knowledge and experience to this school year.
I actually began my journey in Valley View at B. J. Ward in 2002. I was a Special Education Teacher when B. J. Ward was still a middle school. After that, I was a Self-Contained Special Education Teacher at Brooks Middle School, and then came back to Ward when it was an elementary school and served as a 1st Grade Teacher for seven years. I spent six years of my career as the Assistant Principal at R.C. Hill Elementary School. Of all of the roles I have taken on so far, the most important part of each role is that of a child advocate. I am looking forward to many more great years at B. J. Ward and am eager to get to know your child and to work with them to meet their greatest potential.
Along with being motivated to work with your child, I look forward to the work that we will do together. As the Proverb says, “It takes a village to raise a child.” I am excited to see your children through your eyes and can’t wait to share with you the great things that they do throughout their days here at B. J. Ward. Of course I will be here to work with you should you or your child need any help navigating any aspect of school. My goal is to ensure that all children are healthy, happy and safe, so that they may learn as much as they can.
Once again, I am so thankful to have the opportunity to bring all that I have experienced and learned with me to the wonderful B. J. Ward community. I look forward to partnering with you and your children.
