Mrs. Crystal Aitchison

Hello, my name is Mrs. Crystal Aitchison and I am co-teaching with Mrs. Ricketts for the 2022-2023 school year. This is my seventh year teaching in the Valley View School District here at Pioneer Elementary School, but I have been a teacher for several years. This is my fifth year co-teaching with Mrs. Ricketts in first grade. I have also co-taught in kindergarten and second grade, as well as helped out in third, fourth and fifth grades too.  Before coming to Pioneer, I have had a variety of teaching experiences, including teaching at the primary level as well as teaching special education in the city of Chicago, working with kindergarten through fourth grade students. I love teaching at the primary level because of the curiosity and love of learning young children have. I love my job because I am able to pass on a love of learning to my students, all while building their confidence and shaping the future.

I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Illinois State University and my Master’s Degree in Reading along with my LBS1 (special education) endorsement from National Louis University.

When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Mr. Aitchison, who I have been married to for eight years. Together, we have two children; a six-year-old son Aiden, who is very excited about starting first grade too this school year, and a two-year-old girl named Madison who loves preschool and playing with her big brother. I also like to read, travel, and have fun with my family in my spare time.

I am looking forward to a successful year and I am excited for the opportunity to work with you and your child providing him/her with the best possible care and educational experience.  Please feel free to contact me anytime via email or by contacting the school. I love being a part of the Pioneer Elementary School community!
