Mrs. Laura Bargas
I began teaching at Romoeville High School in August 2003, becoming a member of the Special Education Department, I was responsible for teaching self contained academic classes, one of those classes being Employability Skills. I supervised students with Individual Education Plans in the Work Experience program, moniotoring their work performnace at both non-paid and paid positions in the community. Besides my classroom respoinsibilities, I acted as Transition Specialist, assisting case managers in developing realistic Transition Plans for students on their case load. In 2010, my duties shifted solely to Transition Speciailst. I assist students and case managers with: career exploration, and post-secondary education, employment and independent living goals.
I am a member of: Valley View's Transition Committee, College and Career Readiniess Committee, Will Grundy Transition Planning Committee and Romeoville Chamber of Commerce Education Committee. I was previously a member of the Bolingbrook - Romeoville Kiwanis International Organization.
I reveived my Bachelor of Science in Education Degree at Illinois State University (Special Education: Learning Disability and Behavior Disorders / LBS 1) and my Master's Degree in Reading Specialist at Olivet Nazarene University. I have also completed additional coursework at: University of South Florida, Southern Illinois University and Prairie State College.
Prior to teaching at Romeoville High School, I held teaching positions at: Minooka High School, Land O' Lakes High School and East Capitol High School.
