Mrs. Misha Bartolomei

I have been teaching in the Valley View School District since 2001, all here at Pioneer, and in Kindergarten.  This is my dream job, and I can’t imagine doing anything else!!  I love the challenge that is presented to me to be the first teacher (besides their parents) that a child has, and to show them how to love learning.  I like to take a thematic approach to my teaching, and I love to incorporate a lot of music and movement into my lessons.  Don’t be surprised if your Kindergartner comes home singing and dancing every day, and you might even find yourself singing along too!!

I received my Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary Education from Northern Illinois University in 1997, and my Masters of Science degree with a concentration in elementary literacy from Dominican University in 2007.  I also have an ESL (English as a Second Language) endorsement from University of St. Francis.

I live in Woodridge with my wonderful husband, Gordon.  We have a daughter, Allyson, who attends Downers South High School and a son, Ryan, who is in 4th grade at Murphy Elementary School in Woodridge.  We also have two dogs: a golden retriever named Caesar and a Maltese named Duncan; a tuxedo cat named Ami, and a tank full of fish.

I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, reading, watching TV, and listening to music.  I love bowling, collecting anything with Snoopy on it and watching the White Sox, Blackhawks and Bears.  I am also a full-fledged Disney fanatic, and and visit the Happiest Place on Earth as often as possible, and even on the high seas!
