Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Suzanne Bruce
My name is Suzanne Bruce. I have been teaching first grade at Hermansen since 2001. I have a bachelors of Arts degree in Elementary Education and a Masters Degree in Elementary Education and Multicultural studies. I have two grown children 20 and 23. Casey and jack I also have three dogs Brady and Cooper and a new little peanut.. Archer Archer...dogs. I love teaching first grade for so many reasons. The first grade team has been together for 15 years and we are very close. We work well together to create a positive, safe, loving environment for ALL of the first graders. I rely on my team for everything from academic advice, moral support, and an ear to listen to. It really does take a village and we work as one in first grade. I also love teaching first grade because first graders are unique in that they become independent slowly but as they reach each new milestone, it is such a special thing to see.
I believe in working very closely with parents to be a supporting member of your child's team. I try to immerse my parents in as much information as possible so there is no fear or confusion as to what we are doing in the classroom. I will email you daily as much as I can to give you information and questions that you can share with your children.
First graders are unique in many ways. They are curious, interested, loving, inquisitive, and eager to learn. There are many traits that first graders come in with on the first day of school. There are many other traits that we will work on all year. We will work on being responsible, respectful, and safe individuals. I look so forward to seeing students master concepts and say, " I can do it!!!" It is why I love teaching first grade...
