Mrs. Kelly Blons
My name is Kelly Blons and I am a preschool teacher at the James Mitchem Early Childhood Center. It is my fifth year here and I could not ask for a better place to work! I graduated from Loyola University in 2012 with Bachelors in Spanish. During this time, I discovered my passion for working with students and helping them achieve their goals. After graduating from Loyola, I went to Kendall College to obtain my early childhood teaching certificate. I obtained my ESL/bilingual and special education certifications from University of St. Francis. I am currently working on my MA in Teaching and Learning at University of St. Francis. Before working at JMECC, I was a preschool teacher in La Grange School District 105.
I believe that teaching is successful through differentiation of instruction, creating and building rapport with families, students, and staff, and getting to know each child for who they are in order to better create rich learning experiences where everyone can flourish. Through a focus on social-emotional learning and creating a fun and comfortable environment, students will discover how to be teammates who work together and look out for each other inside and outside the classroom.
In my free time, I love to spend time with my family. I enjoy spending time outside and taking walks. I also like to travel. My favorite places include San Diego, California and Mallorca, Spain.
