Mrs. Karen Clark
My name is Mrs. Karen Clark and I am part of the fifth grade team at Pioneer Elementary. This will be my fourteenth year teaching fifth grade at Pioneer and I couldn’t be happier. I love teaching fifth grade and enjoy watching the tremendous changes that takes place with this grade level as they prepare to leave elementary school and transition to middle school.
I received my Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Saint Francis and my Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from National Lewis University. I have lived in Bolingbrook with my family since 1986. My husband is retired but keeps busy working retail and volunteering to work with senior citizens. My son works for Panera corporate office, and my daughter works for Kellogg’s corporate offices.
I love to spend my summers sitting on my patio reading wonderful books which have nothing to do with school. My other hobbies are gardening and cooking which I use as therapy any time I can. My passion however is teaching and I always seem to spend more time in the summer preparing for school than relaxing and enjoying the quiet. I love to create new ways for students to engage in activities so that the concepts and ideas they are learning are more concrete and meaningful. I believe that all children have the ability to grasp any concept in their own way, but I also believe they need to work hard to be successful in whatever they do, and I work with them to make sure that both things happen in my classroom.
