Mrs. DeLeon

Hello families!  My name is Vanessa DeLeon and I am a Reading Recovery Coordinator at Irene King and Skoff Elementary.  I have the opportunity to work with Kindergrten, 1st and 2nd grade students in becoming successful readers.  I love what I do and I am so excited to be able to work with our youngest learners.

I have been a teacher for 16 years starting in Chicago Public Schools.  I started my career with Valley View School District in 2008 at BJ Ward Elementary as a Kindergarten Teacher and then a Third grade teacher.  In 2012 I became a Literacy Leader in the Reading Room at BJ Ward.  This is my third year as a Reading Recovery Coordinator and this by far is my favorite teaching position.

I have 2 boys that attend schools in Valley View and are currently in third and first grade.  As a family, we love to travel and watch movies.  We are big Marvel and DC fans along with Star Wars and Harry Potter.  We also LOVE baseball!  My husband coaches both of my boys' baseball teams so you will probably see us at the rec center alot.

I am so excited for this school year!
