Degrees and Certifications:
BS/Education, Loyola University of Chicago Ongoing Professional Development
Mrs. Nancy Dickinson-Anding
I have been teaching first grade at Wood View Elementary since 2000. Prior to that, I taught kindergarten and TPI kindergarten for 2 years at Wood View. I received my degree in education from Loyola University. Upon graduating, I was not able to obtain a teaching position in the City of Chicago. I pursued and was successful in a business career; culminating in becoming Vice-President of Administration in a Management Consulting firm involved in Executive Recruitment, Organizational Consulting, and Industrial Psychological Evaluations. Upon having my 2 daughters, I transitioned to my most important job, mom. Throughout all of my professional and personal endeavors, I never gave up my passion to giving others the gift of becoming life-long learners and responsible citizens of our great country. Once my daughters were in school, I transitioned into education as a substitute teacher within the Valley View school district and, subsequently, accepted a full-time position teaching first grade at Wood View elementary.
I feel all of my business and personal experiences have given me more of a dimensional and well-rounded approach to education and success in my classroom.
I believe all who enter can learn. My methodology is to treat my students as persons with the commitment that each and all can be successful learners; to give them the gift of ownership for their learning, and to give them the tools to be independent learners who can problem-solve, collaborate, and know it is ok to make mistakes.
