Mr. Brian D. Finn
Raised in Downers Grove, Illinois, Brian D. Finn began studying trumpet at the age of eight. Mr. Finn’s father William Finn encouraged Mr. Finn to learn to play jazz and learn melodies “by ear” without relying on written music in his early years of playing. Throughout middle school and high school Mr. Finn had received several awards in both jazz improvisation and classical trumpet, which lead him to peruse his degree in music education and performance.
In 1986, Mr. Finn received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education from Northern Illinois University and began performing trumpet professionally in the Chicago-land area. In 1990, Brian began touring as an entertainer and band leader traveling the world on cruise ships working for Norwegian, Royal Viking, Dolphin, and NYK a Japanese cruise ship. While touring on these ships, he gained the experience of performing hundreds of shows with numerous entertainers and had the pleasure seeing the world while visiting 36 different countries. In 2003 he received his Masters of Music Education from VanderCook College of Music. Presently, Brian is the Director of Bands at Brooks Middle School in Bolingbrook, Illinois.
As a performer, Mr. Finn is currently working with the Blooze Brothers, a Motown tribute band, and the Upbeat Orchestra. Brian was honored to perform at the 56th Presidential Inauguration in Washington D.C. and recently for Governor Pat Quinn. Mr. Finn has performed with many famous artists including Bobby Vinton, Clark Terry, Vic Damone, Donna Summers, Martha Wash, Gloria Loring, trumpet greats Bobby Shew, and Vinnie DeMartino.
