Mrs. Christine Hoelscher

I began teaching English at Romeoville High School in the spring of 2016.  Before coming to Romeoville, I had the opportunity to mentor at-risk freshman and sophomore students as the Career Center Manager at Minooka Community High School.  I also spent five years as a part-time seventh grade Language Arts teacher at Channahon Junior High School. There I was involved in the process of aligning curriculum to Common Core Standards and implementing Differentiated Instruction methods in a student-centered classroom. From 1998-2002, I taught Freshman Honors English and American Literature, as well as serving as yearbook advisor, at Wilmington High School. After my first year there, I was asked to assist in re-writing the English curriculum to align with state goals. In the following three years, our state scores in writing improved dramatically. Prior to my tenure at Wilmington, I was an English teacher at East Aurora High School from 1990-1997.

I attended Aurora University and graduated in 1990 with a B.A. in English/Secondary Education.  While there, I participated in both volleyball and softball.  In 1986, I graduated from East Aurora High School in the top 10% of my class.  I was a three-sport athlete (volleyball, basketball, softball) and was inducted into the Tomcat Hall of Fame in 2007.

I have been married since 2000 and have two children.  I recently retired from coaching volleyball after 27 years.  In my spare time, I enjoy reading, Sudoku, and watching sports, especially the Chicago White Sox.
