Mrs. Eileen Johnson

Hi, my name is Eileen Johnson, and I am excited to be part of the 3rd grade team at R. C. Hill Elementary! I am looking forward to co-teaching and being in my favorite grade again. :)  I will be supporting all of the 3rd grade general education classrooms at RCH this year.

Last year, I taught in the multi-needs program at RCH for students in 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades. Previously in Valley View, I co-taught 3rd grade at Wood View Elementary and also kindergarten-5th grades in the district CARES program for students with emotional disabilities. Before coming to Valley View, I taught in the LaGrange 102 school district in the cross categorical primary and intermediate program for three years. I have enjoyed working with some many various types of students and programs.

Before I began teaching, I worked fourteen years in the marketing/advertising industry. I wore many hats from copy editor to marketing manager over the years, and everything in between. However, I always wanted to teach and decided to go back to school and change careers, after I had my own children. I absolutely love being a teacher and couldn't be happier about my decision! I am passionate about teaching children to advocate for themselves and believe in helping them build ownership over their learning, so they can grow as lifelong learners. My goal is to inspire kids to not only learn, but to want to learn and to enjoy learning.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family. I am married to a spectacular guy, Rob, and we have two amazing children, who are in 5th and 6th grades.  My Mom, who turned 90 this summer, recently moved in with us, and it has been a blast! We also have a gentle giant Newfoundland dog and two cats all rescues. Any oppurtunity I get to spend time outdoors and listen to music I welcome with open arms. I enjoy gardening and have a vegetable garden that I spend quite a bit of time working on keeping alive and healthy. As most teachers, I also love to read in my spare time.  My favorite day getaway is to go the beach or lake, I find it peaceful.

I am a strong believer in having an open line of communication between school and home. I am excited to work together to help your child have a successful, productive and fun year! Please feel free to contact me with any ideas, questions or concerns.

It is going to be a great school year!
