Mrs. Kimberly Holloway

I am entering into my 18th year as an educator, and have been privileged to spend all 18 years at A. Vito Martinez Middle School - which happens to be the middle school I attended as well! During this time, I have taught Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, and Mathematics in both the regular and gifted classrooms. For the past decade or so, I have solely taught Mathematics in the gifted and regular classrooms. During my teaching career, I have earned two Masters degrees in Education Leadership, and hold an Administrative Certificate in the state of Illinois. I have yet to leave the classroom for an administrative role, because my passion for education still lies within teaching and being in the classroom with students.

The Mathematics curriculum is rigorous and challenging.  It is my philosophy that all students can learn and be successful, and that students have different strengths that will make them an integral part of our learning community.  I set high expectations for our students, and I expect students to work hard.  I expect students to be engaged in class activities and to be an active member of our learning community.  I will not assign students tasks that they cannot complete, but it is to be expected that students will struggle at times and may be out of their comfort zones.  It is at times like these, that I expect students to persevere and use the strategies and tools learned in class to be successful.
